THORNBURGH was the son of Richard THORNBURGH (born 1 May 1770) and Elizabeth ____ (born circa 1769 in NC); son of Joseph THORNBURGH and Welmet BEESON. Two brothers: William THORNBURGH (born 12 Aug 1764; died 20 May 1800 Jefferson County, TN) and Thomas THORNBURGH (born 30 Apr 1767). Ramoth Huzza THORNBURGH married Elzina McCLARY, daughter of Preston McCLARY and Eliza BRASSFIELD. CHILDREN 1. Alford Green THORNBURGH 2. Elmina Emaline THORNBURGH 3. Oliver Cromwell THORNBURGH 4. Napolin Amharst THORNBURGH 5. Mary Tamer THORNBURGH 6. Elimira Clementine THORNBURGH 7. Elvira Mehetable THORNBURGH CIVIL WAR: Ramoth THORNBURGH enlisted 17 Aug 1864 at Vera Cruz, Douglas County, MO, as a private. Honorably discharged 9 Mar 1865 as a sergeant at Springfield, Greene County, MO. His physical description: 5 ft. 11 in. tall with a fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and a farmer. Ramoth THORNBURGH lived in Missouri until 1880 when he moved to Oklahoma (Choctaw Nation). In 1877 he moved back to Missouri. In 1911 he moved back to Oklahoma and lived at Hulbert (Cherokee County) until his death in Feb 1913. Ramoth was also a minister of the gospel. He signed several marriage records which are on file at the Ozark County Courthouse in Gainesville, MO. Ramoth THORNBURGH married (2) mary Malinda E. TURLEY on 3 May 1878 in Ozark County, MO; daughter of Charles TURLEY and Mary SANDERS.Mary died in 1889. Children were: 1. Joseph Albert THORNBURGH born 23 Feb 1881 OK 2.
