March 24, 1986 - November 13, 2002, John S. Voluntine passed away Wednesday after a short unexpected illness. Born and raised in Walnut Creek John had attended De La Salle High School where he had entered his junior year. He was a member of the De La Salle Tennis team, loved baseball and enjoyed fishing. He had begun to form a love of food and had recently worked at Togo's. He will be missed by many friends at De La Salle and Northgate High Schools. He is survived by his beloved parents Jack and Nanette Voluntine, dear sister, Kati, paternal Grandfather Bob Walker of Alameda, maternal Grandmother Nancy Glubb of New Zealand and many loved family and friends. John was a wonderful spirit. He was non-judgemental of those he met in his life, was open to all and lead others by his presence. A Visitation will be held Saturday Nov. 16, 2002 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel 1139 Saranap Ave. in Walnut Creek. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Monday Nov. 18, 2002 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church 199 Brandon Rd. in Pleasant Hill. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette. Published in the Contra Costa Times on 11/15/2002.
