    Lane Garrett (Jackman) Brassfield, 8-year-old son of Rebekkah and Jason Brassfield, died Sept. 9 at Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City after his lifelong battle with muscular dystrophy. Services were Tuesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City and interment followed in Mustang Cemetery under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service.
    Lane was born Oct. 16, 2001, in Oklahoma City, and had lived in Union City and Yukon before moving to south Oklahoma City. He was a second-grader at Fisher Elementary. Lane loved life, and his spirit will live on through organ donation and his contribution to research on myotubular myopathy.
    Survivors include his parents; a brother, Chason; two sisters, Jaden and Keegan; grandparents, Ronald and Dianne Jackman of El Reno, and Cheryl and John Brassfield of Oklahoma City; and great-grandparents, Blake and Ethel Coe of Perry and Mildred Woodall of Mustang.

    Earl Edward Brassfield, 80, of Stillwater, died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, in Stillwater. A funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. on Monday at First Christian Church, Stillwater, with the Revs. Owen Cayton and Jim Shields officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born on Feb. 13, 1929, in Chula, Mo., to Irena Lillis Boyer and Oscar Graves Brassfield. He married Shirley Mae Crow on July 25, 1950 in New Market, Iowa. He attended Northwestern Missouri University, Maryville, Mo., as a business major. While at college, Earl began a career in sales at a shoe store, later managed several department stores in Oklahoma City, then traveled as a sales representative for shoe companies and lastly, managed promotional campaigns for retail stores throughout the country. He retired from a sales career to begin managing property in Shreveport, La., and then Tulsa. He and Shirley retired to Stillwater, where Earl volunteered for area charities, Karmen Korner, Elite Repeat and the Habitat Restore.He was a staff sergeant in the Korean War, and received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and two Bronze Campaign Stars and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan). He is a member of First Christian Church of Stillwater and the Capitol Hill Lions Club of Oklahoma City.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bill, Henry, Forrest and Vernon; his sisters, Carrie, Edith, and Cora; and five infant brothers and sisters.He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Stillwater; a son, John Brassfield and his wife Cheryl of Oklahoma City; and two daughters, Marla Day and her husband Dwight of Manhattan, Kan.; and Karen Lott and her husband Danny of Stillwater. Earl has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Stillwater Habitat for Humanity, 505 E. 18th, Stillwater, OK 74074; Judith Karman Hospice PO Box 818, Stillwater, OK 74076, or the Korean War Veterans Association in care of Strode Funeral Home.     Shirley Mae Brassfield, 81, died on March 3, 2010 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born on November 5, 1928 to Clarence and Emma Crow. She married Earl Edward Brassfield on July 25, 1950 in New Market, Iowa. She graduated from Gravity High school in 1946, Northwestern Missouri State University in Maryville, MO in 1950 with a Business degree, and later received a masters degree in History from Central State University. After school, she helped her husband, Earl, manage promotional campaigns for retail stores throughout the country. Both Earl and Shirley retired to Stillwater, where they volunteered for area charities, such as Karmen Korner, Elite Repeat and the Habitat Restore. She was a seamstress, who created lavish costumes and gowns. She took great joy in creating wardrobes for her daughters, granddaughters, and close friends. She was also a member of the First Christian Church of Stillwater and the Christian Womens Fellowship Group. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl Edward Brassfield. She is survived by her son, John Brassfield and wife, Cheryl, of Oklahoma City; her daughters, Marla Day and husband, Dwight, of Manhattan, Kan.; Karen Lott and husband, Danny, of Stillwater six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
