Born in Lexington, Tenn., he was the son of the late Thomas Brassfield and Lena Parker Gideon. Served: U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors: wife, Sara Mauzy Gideon; a daughter, Suzanne McConnell of Greenville; a son, Woodrow Wilson Gideon Jr. of Seaford, Va.; and five grandchildren, Erin McConnell, Jennifer Piper, Woodrow Wilson Gideon III, Jeffery and Eddie Gideon.
