Notes:

Elsie I. Iness, age 91, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008 after a period of declining health. Elsie, a native of Arkansas resided in Madera for 63 years where she had retired from the Madera Unified School District as a school cafeteria dietician, following a career spanning 20 years with the district. Elsie was an excellent cook which she loved doing and was evident in the meals she prepared for her family and friends. Her ministry to others was through food. A devout Christian, Elsie worshiped at Yosemite Christian Center for many years. She was well liked, and never knew a stranger. Elsie was a very giving person and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Irby I. Iness in 1994, her siblings, a grandson Michael Iness, and by a son in law, Charlie Qualls. She is survived by her daughter Alice Qualls of Madera and by her sons, Irby Iness and Jim Iness both of Fresno and by John Iness of Coarsegold. Elise is beloved grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving Elsie are her devoted caregivers, Rita Ballard and Gail Ballard.

Visitation is Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from 2 to 8 PM in Jay Chapel. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1 PM in Jay Chapel. Interment will follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
