    It is said that the reason Shuler and Melda were not in the picture was she was having a baby.That is what Alpha told me,but I can`t find dates to jive with that figure.

    The fifth generation picture is unique in that it was first borns of each generation. getting this group together was due to the insistence of Delores Meadors,the wife of Willis.Picture was taken,May 15 1981.Here in Bakersfield.They met at our home and went to Sears Roebuck,to have the picture made. Dad Shuler would "turn 88 years old on May 19.

    Notes:

    Mary Ida Brassfield's maiden name was James. Her father was Mattison James. However, grandmother Ida told us that her family went by the name of James, but her father had changed their name for some reason. She thought their name was actually Brown. She indicated he had been some sort of rebel during the civil war. I have never been able to find anything other than one name on the list of Cantrell's raiders by the name of Brown. She said she and grandpa John were married in Missouri. Our John braxton was born in 1860 and grandmother Ida was born in 1867.
