Huntsville, AL - 14 year old Andy Brasfield died Thursday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night. The prayer vigil for the Huntsville teenager was held at 9 Thursday night. It was held at Monte Sano United Methodist Church. Dozens of people attended. It was held outside on the church's prayer path. The youth group helped organize the service to remember their friend and pray for the family. Andy was a freshman at Huntsville High School. In his 14 years, he made an impact on his classmates and the community. Friends say he will always be remembered for his positive attitude and good humor. Walker Finnell and Andy Brasfield met 3 years ago. They quickly became best buds. “I first met him in the 6th grade and I thought he was hilarious and would always make me laugh," said Walker Finnell. They hung out at school and at each other's homes. “We'd come over here and go over to other friends’ homes, play football, basketball, regular kid teenage stuff," said Walker Finnell. Walker's mother says Andy was always the life of the party. "There's Andy right there in the picture, in the middle of everybody all the way around. And that's the way everybody always wanted to be. Everybody just loved Andy and wanted to be around him all the time. So every time Andy was here, all the kids, young and old, wanted to be here," said Debbie Finnell, a friend of the Brasfield family and mother of Walker.

Andy Brasfield’s life was taken early. Police say he was crossing the street at Whitesburg and Noble drive around 10 pm Wednesday when he was hit by an SUV. Finnell says Brasfield and a couple of his friends were trying to cross the street to the shell gas station. Brasfield was taken to Huntsville hospital, where he passed away. He's the son of a well-known family in Huntsville. His father, Billy Brasfield, worked in local TV and radio under the name Kris Kelly. “His parents are 2 of the sweetest people that I've ever met and my heart just goes out to them for losing him," said Debbie Brasfield. “I’m sad. We're going to miss him a lot. Everybody is,” said Walker Finnell. According to police as of Thursday night no charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.

HUNTSVILLE, AL - A teenager has died after being hit by a vehicle late Wednesday night. Huntsville Police say Andy Brasfield was hit by a Jeep just after 10 p.m.

Officers who were on the scene say Brasfield, 14, was walking with a group of friends across Whitesburg Drive, at Noble Drive, just south of the Airport Road intersection when the vehicle struck him. They were going to a convenience store to get something to drink. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital, where he died Thursday morning surrounded by family and friends. Dozens of people formed a prayer circle in front of Monte Sano United Methodist Church Thursday night, sharing their grief and memories. Children from youth groups around Huntsville organized the vigil. They remembered Andy by reciting poems and scripture and sharing stories about the 14-year-old. "I think it was good for everybody. They got to just be together. It's just been a hard, long day, and I think it let people just kind of share with each other and be with each other and work through this together," said Kenny Creel, who attended the vigil and knew Andy very well. The ceremony was meant to lighten the load of sudden and heavy grief and pay special honor to a well-loved boy these people and others will sorely miss. Brasfield was a student at Huntsville High School. He was also an organ donor. Andy is the youngest son of Billy and Donna Brasfield. The family is well known in the Huntsville community. Billy has worked in local radio and television under the name 'Kris Kelly.' He also works as a DJ with Kris Kelly Entertainment. The Brasfield family is one of little people with big smiles and even bigger personalities. 14-year-old Andy Brasfield was the youngest. "Dynamite comes in small packages. You know, he was very small in stature, but oh my gosh. He exuded this incredible personality," said Mike Chappell, Andy's drama teacher at Huntsville High School. He learned Thursday morning about Wednesday's accident. "His friends say that they thought that he had crossed the road and he didn't make it in time, and he was hit. It's just tragic," said Chappell. The drama teacher was there when Andy was pronounced dead this morning at Huntsville Hospital, and he was surprised by the strength of Andy's older brother. Chappell said, "Jake was saying this morning at the hospital, 'Don't cry. He's in a better place.'" It's a loss the teacher said is felt around the school ... specifically in the drama department, where he was planning Andy's debut in theatre in their play "The Wedding Singer." "I saw such potential in him, and the last thing I said to him was 'You're gonna be on stage,' and he said 'Ok.' And we actually talked about some parts that he would do," said Chappell. Investigators say they don't expect to file charges against the driver at this time. Many of us at WHNT NEWS 19 know the Brasfield family. We offer our most sincere condolences for their loss.

I have emailed you before about information concerning our side of the Brasfield legacy.
I wanted to let you know what I have discovered.
Sarah Snow's father is listed as Jesse Snow which, of course, is correct. Jesse's wife's name is Julie Vina Smith and her mother is Vina Franklin.
Many members of our family have a skin condition called Epidermalisist Bolosa, which causes blistering even with minor irratation. After tracing back to where this condition originated, we discovered it stems back to Vina Franklin.
