Samuel was the son of Robert & Susannah Jeter and brother of Catherine Jeter Brasfield. In 1825, Samuel received 351 acres from his father. Robert, land on the waters of Ready Creek in Granville Co, NC. (Deed Book 2, p. 424) On 2 Aug 1830, before he joined other family members in their move to Tennessee, Samuel sold his land to Frederick Shepard of Pasquotank Co, NC, "for and in consideration of the conveyance of sundry lands lying in the State of Tennessee in the western district (Deed Book 4, p. 442)" They had 8 children: *************************** John W. JETER, stock raiser, farmer, and a prominent citizen of Weakley County, Tenn., was born in North Carolina, January 12,1831, son of Samuel and Ann (Brasfield) Jeter, natives of North Carolina, born in 1801 and 1797, and died in 1835 and 1853, respectively. The father was a farmer, and when about twenty years of age was united in marriage to Ann Brasfield, by whom he had eight children, two of whom are living: Robert E. and our subject. They came to Tennessee in 1831. John W. was reared by his mother. He was educated in the neighboring schools and at Dresden, and the year he was twenty-one years old, taught school, and on the 3d of March, 1853, his marriage with Dr. G. D. and Mrs. Simm's daughter Ann, was celebrated. Of the five children born to them there are living William S., Frances Ella (Mrs. S. E. Young), and Ann C (Mrs. Henry Finch). Almost from the date of his marriage, Mr. Jeter has resided on his present farm, which originally consisted of 100 acres, but now amounts to 628 acres of well cultivated and improved land. Mr. Jeter is a Democrat, and in 1870 was elected to the office of magistrate, which he filled six years. He has been a member of the Masonic eternity since he was twenty-one years of age. In May, 1863, his wife died, and in December of the same year he wedded Sarah E. Young, by whom he is the father of six children: Lorissa T. (Mrs. Samuel Shannon), George W., John B., Robert Lee, Lulu and Ethelbert J. Mrs. Jeter was born in Granville County, N. C., in 1837, and her parents, William K. and Lucy F. Brassfield - Donald S. Brassfield, Bedford, died suddenly on Friday, June 13, 1997. Born on November 3, 1948, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of John E. and Alice (Piper) Brassfield. On February 17, 1993, he married Julie Evans Volz, who survives.

Also surviving are the father; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Melinda Beth) Brown and Allison Lea Brassfield, both of Bedford; one step-daughter, Cheryl Lynne Volz of Bloomington, IN; one grandson, Jarrett Layne Brown; one sister, Cindy Vaught of Indianapolis, IN; two nieces; three nephews; and one great niece. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Donald Brassfield was a journeyman tool & die maker with Stone City Products and formerly E & M Tool in Bedford. He was a graduate of ITT with a degree in Tool Design Engineering and I.C.S. with a Degree in Tool & Die Making. He was a member of First Church of God in Bedford and a long time member of Henpecked Bowling League and Broadview Industrial Bowling Leagues.

The funeral service for Donald Brassfield will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, at the First Baptist Church of Bedford, with the Revs. Lewis Williams and Jon Lineback officiating. Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, June 16-17, and from 9:00 a.m. till noon on Wednesday, June 18th, at Day & Carter Mortuary, and from 1:00 p.m. till service time at the First Baptist Church. Friends are asked to consider contributions to the Allison Lea Brassfield College Fund.Brassfield.

Lillie Mae Hogue Waits, 96, of Danville, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born October 11, 1915, in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Walter B. and Minnie Lee Coyle Daugherty, and was the wife of the late Chuck Ira Waits. Mrs. Waits was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Churcha and was a retired waitress, having worked at Burke’s Cafeteria and Boyle Pharmacy. She is survived by a son, Truman (Lesa) Hogue of Louisville, 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jewell Sherrow of Junction City. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Woodie Hogue, and a daughter, America Westmoreland. The family has chosen cremation with burial of cremains in Bellevue Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. Clara was born April 23, 1932 in Caddo, OK to her parents Odious Lee and Alberta Bow (Keener) Adams. She married December 1, 1949 Joseph Oscar Brassfield, who predeceased her in 1998. In a generation where the working woman met with many challenges Clara spent forty-one years as a paralegal finishing her career with the prestigious firm of Gable & Gotwals. Yet she excelled even more at home as she is remembered being a hard working mother of three who sacrificed for the sake of her family. The investment she made in them will live on throughout their lifetimes. Clara is survived by: her 3 sons, Joseph Daniel Brassfield of Winterville, GA, David Eugene Brassfield of Kansas City, MO, and James Dennis Brassfield of Tulsa, OK; her brother Donald Joe Adams of Madill, OK; 2 grandchildren James Dennis Brassfield, Jr. and Jasmine Parks.
