- TUPELO - Marsha Bowling Gray, 54, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at her home in Tupelo after a long illness. She was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Bluefield, W.Va., to Arvis Veron and Mary Elizabeth Underwood Bowling. She lived in Smithville for 23 years and graduated from Smithville High School. She had lived in Tupelo for the past 31 years. She married Gary Thomas Gray on July 3, 1973, in Smithville. She was employed as a clerk with the Social Security Administration in Tupelo for many years, retiring in 1995. She was a former state president of the Mississippi Firefighters Auxiliary and a member of the Tupelo Firefighters Auxiliary. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Tupelo. She sent daily devotionals over the Internet to soldiers around the world. She also enjoyed crocheting. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville with the Rev. Don McCain and the Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Turon Cemetery in Itawamba County. Survivors include her husband, Gary Thomas Gray of Tupelo; a daughter, Kimberly Gray Clark and husband, Bradley, of Tupelo; a brother, Dwight Bowling and wife, Debbie, of Smithville; a brother-in-law, Edwin Gray and wife, Cathy, of Smithville; a sister, Sharon Carter and husband, Jimmy, of Amory; a special niece, Penny James of Smithville; two grandchildren, Kierstin LeeAnn Danielle Clark and Paris Mary-Victoria Clark; five nephews, three nieces, several great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gary Bowling; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Mary Ruth Gray. Pallbearers will be Scott Carter, Dee Bowling, Russ Bowling, Corey Gray, Casey Gray and Chris Hughes. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
