- Juanita Venable, 84, of Harlan, passed from this life on Friday, November 5, 2010. Juanita was born June 20, 1926 at Highsplint and had lived in Harlan County all of her life. She taught school at Shields and later worked at the Harlan National Bank.
Juanita was a member of the First Baptist Church of Loyall and the Mountain Laurel Chapter 428 O.E.S.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Luke and Margaret Short Brassfield; her husband, William Ray "Red" Venable; her son, Billy Ray Venable; two brothers, Bill Brassfield and Rowland Brassfield; and a grandson, Sam Venable.
Survivors include a sister, Elvenia (Charles) Earles, Melvindale, MI; four brothers, Jim Brassfield, Harlan; WL (Joey Kay) Brassfield, Harlan; Don Brassfield, Nicholasville; and Fred Brassfield, Lexington; a grandson, William Venable; a great grand daughter, Alissa Venable; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Parrott Lynn, all of Texas. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation for Juanita Venable will be Sunday evening from 5 - 7 pm at the Harlan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with Dr. Roy Lucas and Glenn Durham officiating.
Interment services will be held Monday at 11 am at the Resthaven Cemetery chapel.
