- Eddie Dean Nigh of Florence died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro. He formerly had lived in Cottonwood Falls. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. The Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls has the arrangements. The graveside memorial service for former Cottonwood Falls resident Eddie Dean Nigh of Florence will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. The Rev. Rick Smith of the First Baptist Church of Cottonwood Falls will conduct the service. Mr. Nigh was cremated. Mr. Nigh died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro. He was 73. He was a shoe cobbler and traveled many places making and repairing leather goods. The son of Harry and Bertha Lee Nigh, he was born Dec. 11, 1933, at Strong City. Mr. Nigh was a Baptist. He is survived by two sons, Michael Nigh of Garden City, Mo., and Eddie Nigh Jr., of Mesa, Ariz; two brothers, Calvin Nigh of Cottonwood Falls and Marcus Nigh of Wichita; and one sister, Erma Hoffner of Peabody. Two brothers, Harry Nigh Jr., and James Nigh; and one sister, Mary Ann Nigh, died earlier. Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls has the arrangements.
