- JESMER CODY
Jesmer Stevens Cody, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Courtyards Nursing Facility in Fulton. She was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Detroit, Ala., to Marvin and Arti V. Ballard Brown. She worked for the Smithville Grammar School cafeteria, the Pearce Restaurant in Smithville and several garment factories. She was a member of the East Fulton Baptist Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McNeece Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Dewitt Bain, Bro. Grover Laird and Bro. Doug Wilson. Burial was in the Itawamba Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and J.D. "Jiggs" Wilson, of Fulton; one brother, Milton Brown and his wife, Olivia, of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Dot Cauthern of Amory and Gera Works of Belmont; four grandchildren and spouses, Becky and Eugene Meadows of Tupelo, Bro. Douglas and Wanda Wilson of Fulton, Jennifer and Dick Hall of Brandon, and Danny and Susan Wilson of Tupelo; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Griffith and husband, Clay, Jonathan Wilson, Joshua Weatherford, Allison Hanson, Nathan Hanson, Brad Wilson and Amanda Simmons; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Stevens and Balis Cody; her parents; and one sister, Ruby Maxine Brasfield.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons, Douglas Wilson, Danny Wilson, Eugene Meadows, Dick Hall, Jonathan Wilson, Joshua Weatherford, Nathan Hansonn and Clay Griffith.
