- STRUTHERS, OHIO - Mr. Walter Gilbert Brassfield Sr., 70, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Briarfield Manor Nursing Home, Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. Brassfield was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania a son of William and Murlvia D. Brassfield, coming to this area many years ago. He was a 1959 graduate of Struthers High School. He had worked with Essroc Machinery, Youngstown Sheet & Tube and was presently employed with Delphi Packard. He was a former member of the Brothers of the Hammer Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed rebuilding hot rod cars, motorcycles, fishing and bowling. He leaves to cherish his beloved memory his children, Wanda Burley, Candace Howard, James Brassfield, Christopher McCrae and Sally McCrae, all of Youngstown, Ohio, Walter Brassfield Jr. of California and Pamela McCrae of Minneapolis; a brother, Edward Thompson Jr.; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Edward Thompson Sr.; a son, David McCrae; and a brother, Willard Brassfield. Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at noon at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home
