- Chillicothe, Mo. - Ervin “Dub” Willis McCracken, 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., formerly of Blue Mound, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at his residence in Chillicothe, Mo. Dub was born Jan. 12, 1922 near Dawn, Mo., the son of Harley Ray and Tabitha Jane (Powers) McCracken. On Aug. 31, 1942 he married Dolly J. Wooden in Chillicothe, Mo. She survives of the home. He was a United States Army World War II veteran, serving as a Combat Engineer from 1943 until 1945. He received four Bronze Stars during his tour of duty. Dub was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union 1262, Tina Fiddlers Association, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dub is also survived by his daughter, Margaret Sue “Susie” Calaway, Chillicothe, Mo.; four grandchildren, Gil Dean Gates and wife Karen, Chillicothe, Mo., Ginger Gates Jones and husband Pat, Chillicothe, Mo., Lynette Smith Barton and husband Richard, Chillicothe, Mo., Shane Smith and wife Shan, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Gates Thompson and husband Dustin, Geana Gates and Gillen Gates, Chillicothe,Mo.; Kylee Ireland, Chillicothe, Mo., Hallee Jones and Hannah Jones, Chillicothe, Mo., Scotty Smith, Sophie Smith and Spencer Smith, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; one brother, Willard McCracken and wife Nina, Blue Mound, Mo.; one sister, Veda Hughes, Blue Mound, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one daughter, Ruth Ann Gates; three brothers, Ercil McCracken, Raymond McCracken and Chester McCracken. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Mo., on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. A family visitation is scheduled at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011. Friends may call on Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be held at Blue Mound Cemetery, Blue Mound, Mo.
