- Nebraska State Prison Records show the following for Lewis William Wells - Prisoner #1753:
Entered Prison on May 13, 1890 for a conviction of 2nd degree murder from Logan County, Nebraska. He was 38 years old and he was sentenced to 11 years, with his sentence scheduled to expire on May, 13, 1891. He was actually released in October of 1898. His occupation was listed as a farmer. He was born in Du Quoin, Perry County, Illinois. He was transfered to the prison from the Nebraska Hospital for the Insane. His identifying marks and scars were listed as: 5'6" tall with a dark complexion, with grey hair and green (?) eyes.1 small vacination mark on left arm. 1 & 1/2" scar on back of left 1st finger. 1 small scar on right elbow. 1" scar on left kneecap. 1 narrow scar near big toe on right foot. 1 small brown mole 6" above navel. Teeth sound and even. 163 lbs. Had a gray mustache. Feet were 10" long and he wore a size 7 shoe.
