- Anne Garland Colvin, former resident of Pawnee communities, died Sunday morning, April 25, 2004, at the Shawn Manor Nursing Center. She was 90. A memorial service will be privately held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Anne Garland Colvin was born April 9, 1914, in Pine Knot, Ky., the daughter of Willard R. Garland and Udoxie Brassfield Garland. When she was young, the family moved to New Mexico and, later, to Oklahoma. She married Ben F. Colvin on Aug. 29, 1931, in Newkirk, and they lived in Pawnee County. She attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Oklahoma City, graduating in 1968 as a licensed practical nurse. She worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, flowers, music and crafts. Survivors include her sister Genevieve McCray of Pawnee; two daughters, Joyce Griffin of Edmond and Louise Lamb of Bella Vista, Ark.; one son, Larry Colvin of Ralston; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 9, 1982; one son, Buddy Colvin; two brothers; and three sisters.
