| 10258 | Quite possibly Ralph Thomas Brasfield. Served in WW II and reported that he was in Wales where he passed through the village of Brassfield.[S&M.FTW] [Sam & Martha Benn.FTW] [Benn1.FTW] Raymond and Ralph are twins. Ralph wrote 'The Benn Brothers of Bidwell Bar' published in 'Diggin's, a newsletter put out by the Butte City Historical Society located in Oroville, California. It was published in 1995 in Volume 39, Number 3. Quite possibly the same individual as Ralph Rolinde Brasfield. Meridian resident, Ralph T. Brasfield passed away with pneumonia April 5th. He was 86 years old. Ralph has made his home in Meridian since 2005. Ralph was born and raised in Aberdeen Washington on July 9th 1923. Following graduation from Aberdeen’s Weatherwax High School in 1941, he attended 1 year at Sacramento State College in Sacramento California before being drafted into the Army following the start of World War 2. Ralph served as a combat medic in the European Theater participating in several major campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, Ralph continued his studies at Sacramento State College, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. During the 1950’s, Ralph worked for Shell Oil Company holding various positions in Northern California, before moving to Woodland, California in 1959. While in Woodland, Ralph was employed by Yolo Engineers & Surveyors until his retirement in 1981. Ralph lived in Oroville California for 24 years before relocating to Meridian. Ralph is survived by 2 sons, James and William Brasfield, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. | BRASFIELD, Ralph Thomas (I20038)

| 10264 | RAPID CITY Evelyn F. Brassfield, 83, of Rapid City, died Wed., March 23, 2005, at a local nursing home. Evelyn was born July 6, 1921, at Platte, South Dakota, to Guy and Tilda (Qualm) Fuller. She graduated from Rapid City High School and married Ralph Brassfield on Dec. 12, 1946, in Rapid City. They farmed and ranched in the Lakeside area north of Owanka until moving to Rapid City in 1955, where she was a nurses aide at Bennett-Clarkson for 15 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed her family, friends and home. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Brassfield of Rapid City; her daughter, Sheila Brassfield of Rapid City; her son, Randy Brassfield and wife Cindy of Lincoln, Ill.; her sister, Darlene Angel of Rapid City; three grandchildren, Sara, Jason and Joel Brassfield, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Pamela and sister, Eleanor Angel. Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and then on Monday at the church for one hour before services. Services are set for 10:00 a.m. Mon., March 28, 2005, at First Christian Church in Rapid City with the Rev. Dale Bartscher officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Center in Evelyn's memory. | 10273 | Raymond Aaron Iten was born at the family home in Lake Stevens, Washington, on August 21, 1923, to Elsie and Edward Iten. He spent the next 83 years acquiring an impressive collection of general knowledge, world experiences and friends, young and old. He was a WWII veteran and worked in a variety of jobs, retiring from the last one when he was in his 70s. As a merchant marine he traveled to many ports and although none of us who survive him can possibly know all that he experienced, we appreciate the man he became through his active life. He enjoyed activities as varied as a good baseball game, annual formal dinners in Alaska, Bingo, the morning newspaper and dressing up to attend live art performances. He was a member of the American Legion and an Elk, and served in the Elk's honor guard for other veterans. His daughter, Danette (Kirk) Brown, of North Carolina; step-daughter, Judith Bronson, of Marysville, Washington; sister, Marie Griffith, of Indio, California; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends will miss him dearly. Ray would wish that his many good friends at Angelo's in Burien enjoy a few stories and lies on his behalf. His friends there enriched his life. A memorial for Ray will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Angelo's Restaurant at 601 SW 153rd St in Burien. | 10274 | Raymond Franklin Vandiver Jr. (March 3, 1930 - Sept. 23, 2010) Raymond Franklin Vandiver Jr., 80, of Huntsville passed away Thursday. The son of the late Raymond Franklin Vandiver Sr. and Annie Mae Orman Vandiver, he grew up on their family farm in New Market. He attended New Market School and graduated as salutatorian of his class in 1948. "Ray" attended Auburn University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Ray's maternal grandfather, John O. Orman, was president of the Bank of New Market and started the family farm that was later run by Ray's father and subsequently by Ray himself. He was honored as the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, was a member of the Southeast Cotton Growers, the National Cotton Council and the District Soil Conservation Committee. He later formed Anderson-Vandiver Realty, which specialized in commercial property. Locally, Ray served on the Huntsville City Board of Education, the Advisory Board of Colonial Bank and as an elder of New Market Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the ACME Club and the Huntsville Kiwanis Club. Ray is survived by his wife, Martha McCown Vandiver; their children, Mary Lynn Carlton and husband Kit, Frank Vandiver and wife Terrie, all of Huntsville and Iris Thorpe and husband David of Birmingham; grandchildren, Ashley and Meredith Carlton, Frank and Will Vandiver, Bannon Thorpe and wife Rollins and David and Robert Thorpe; brother, Jack Vandiver and wife Barbara; sister, Martha Lynn Birchfield; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. Mark Mueller officiating. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family. The only Theodore Brassfield I show in my research was the son of Levi Gilmore Brassfield & Rosan Workman Levi was the son of John Brassfield & Elizabeth Pinkey. This John Brassfield's father was John Joseph Brassfield who was married to an unknown female. John Joseph was born circa 1757 aand was the son of Joseph Leonard Brassfield from Dorset England. Joseph Leonard was said to be one of the Lord Baltimore settlers in the territory of Virginia. Now my father was also a John Lindsay Brassfield born 4/20/1926 to Winfred Russell Brassfield & Fannie Coffey. He had a sister who was born in 1931 and died within the 1st month. Her name was Maud. My father never mentioned her because he was under 5 yrs old and it was the same year his father was tragically killed. I hope this information helps you. Thomas' children by first wife, Maria Johnson, were Mary, Nancy, Rebecca, Reason (Reese), William, Harriett, Isophena; children by second wife, Eliza Howard, were George A. Ell Trammel, Pheba M. Alex, Kate, Albert, Gertie, Solomon (twin), and David (twin). The children were all born in Adair Co., MO. Hope this helps! This line goes back to Joseph Leonard Brassfield, William Trammel Brassfield was son of his son James. ****************************** Mary Francis BRASSFIELD b.15 Aug. 1852 in Kirksville, MO was my ggggrandmother. She M. Zara C. POTTER 1866 in MO. They came to OR ca.1887. I have found that she had a twin sister, Nancy Elizabeth who settled in NE and m. Asa Aldrich. Other siblings include: Wm.Jr.,Reese ,Rebecca, & Harriet. Obviously, their father was Wm. Sr. I do have a name for their mother or any other info as I have not had a chance to do much work on this line as of yet. I believe I found the names mentioned above in an obit for Nancy.
