| 1409 | Belle Brassfield marries George W. Morgan 23 Oct 1882 in Clay Co, MS per the IGI In the IGI also is Rowena E. Brassfield marrying James M. Morgan 22 Dec 1881 in Clay Co. In the 1870 Chickasaw Co, MS census Rowena E. is listed with James and Mary Brassfield. I believe Rowena E. (possibly Elizabeth) is Betty. We have in oral family history that Betty Brassfield married Jim Morgan and they were living in the Delta area in the 1930's. Annie Brassfield, last dau of James and Mary is shown as born in Clay Co, MS so it appears that the parents moved to Clay Co, from Chickasaw between 1870 and 1877 (or the county boundaries changed) and it is logical that Belle and Betty were married in Clay Co, in 1881 and 1882. With so many Morgan's around several counties in NW MS, I haven't sorted out which families James and George belong to yet. I don't think they are brothers, so perhaps cousins, but no real evidence to support this yet. Thanks for posting the photo. Maybe we will all learn something from it. | 1431 | Beloit Daily Call, Monday, Jan. 11, 1904, page 1: A Sudden Death This community was greatly shocked and pained yesterday morning upon receiving the sad information that Earl, the ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Brassfield had died at 1 o'clock in the morning after an illness of only a few hours duration, brought on by scarlet fever. Saturday afternoon the lad was out in the yard at play little knowing or thinking that in a few short hours he would be cold in death. This dreaded disease made its invasion into the Brassfield household only a few days ago when another of the children was taken down sick. Earl was a bright, good little lad, and his sudden departure from this life was a terrible blow indeed to the heartbroken parents. They have the deepest sympathy of all in their dark hours of affliction. The funeral service which was impossible to be made a public one, was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, the interment being made in the Elmwood cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Brassfield Beloit Times, Jan. 14, 1904, page 8: Death of Earl Brassfield Earl Brassfield, aged 10 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Brassfield, died Monday of scarlet fever. | 1432 | Beloit Daily Call, Wed., April 27, 1966: Lloyd Brassfield Graveside services were held for Lloyd Brassfield in Elmwood cemetery Tuesday afternoon. He died in Seneca April 25, 1966. The Brassfields were formerly of Beloit. The Semi-Weekly Courier-tribune, Seneca (Nemaha County) Kansas, Monday, May 2, 1966, page 1: Death here Recently of Long-Time Railroad Worker Lloyd E. Brassfield, with the Union Pacific at Marysville some 30 years, died April 25, 1966, at the Convalescent Home near Seneca. He had not been well for some years. He had lived at a home at Centralia about two years, and was brought to the Convalescent Home for care just a few days before his death. He was born at Beloit on June 18, 1899, and the Thornburg Home took the body there for services. A graveside service was conducted by Rev. Charles Farmer. Mr. Brassfield is survived by a brother, Carl F. Brassfield of Laguna Beach, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Aline Arnold of Monrovia, California and Mrs. Marie Keller of Stewartsville, Mo. | 1433 | Ben W. Kimbell made his transition on May 23, 2011 at University of Colorado Hospital due to a brain stem stroke. He was born in Malta, Mont. on June 23, 1953, the first son of Ben and LaReta Kimbell. Ben graduated Mapleton High School in Denver as the valedictorian and went on to Brigham Young University with a full ride scholarship in mechanical engineering. After graduating college with a Masters Degree of Engineering Science in 1978 he moved his family to Fort Collins to begin his career at Hewlett Packard. After retiring from HP he went to work as a quality manager for a start-up company, Couragent, makers of the Flip Pal mobile scanner. Ben's purpose in life was to improve his and the lives of others, and he lived this every day with deep conviction. He was deeply committed to his church, Unity Church of Fort Collins where he led the YOU youth group. He was a very kind and loving man and always found the good in others. Ben lived a very full life travelling around the world with his wife and family on vacations and business trips. He is survived by his wife, Carol Kimbell; his five children and their spouses, Sari and Andrew Schauer, Ben and Kathy Kimbell, Cody and Janell Brassfield, Dana and Zach Holder and Bria and Nick Berger; his mother, LaReta Kimbell; his siblings, Bonna Burrows, Dorreta George, and Lonnie Kimbell; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Katelyn Kimbell, Bryce, Clayton and Brynlee Brassfield. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2 p.m., at Unity Church of Fort Collins located at 1401 West Vine Drive. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Unity of Fort Collins and note Ben Kimbell YOU Memorial Fund on the check. Mail your contribution to Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W.
