7065 Hi All, Dot got this to me today and want to share. They are identified: Front L--R: Estelle, Goldie, George, Elizabeth, Francis (MF), Joe on his lap, a Brassfield, another Brassfield. Back: ? with Martha Elrod behind Francis. Minnie Brassfield is either holding baby or is standing behind Martha. If any of you who actually knew the Elrods or Brassfields can identify the others, or correct these, please let us know. Thanks, Cornelia Hi Mike, I'm hoping you already got the information on Minnie that was on her death certificate. It was sent to the addy on your homepage. I got a copy of her marriage license today. She and George were married, I think it says, on the 18th of Nov 1900. The license was issued on the 17th. Bondsman F L Brasfield. Rev T P Vanderver married them at her residence in Palos. Consent was given by George Elrod and W E Elrod on 11/16/1900. I'm not sure, but they may have misread the initials if it were her mother giving consent.. she was Mary "Elizabeth" Ellems Elrod. 7067 Hi Michael I think I am related to John Clayborn. I believe one of his brother's was Frederick Clayborn. Frederick was my great grandfather. I am looking for information on Frederick. Have been trying to locate the burial place of Frederick. Not had any luck. Of course everyone that might have known is long gone. I believe they lived in the limestone area when he passed away. I know Nancy his wife stayed there for a while then moved to Clarksville to live with a son and she is buried there. Thought I would give it a shot and see if maybe you might know the information I am looking for. Thanks for reading this e-mail. Hope to hear from you. Thanks again. 7069 hi michael sorry it took me so long to reply. i should have had a ? mark after the montgomery for nancy. it was an asumption because of the 1870 gibson county, tennessee federal cenus gotten from rootsweb. there is a f. montgomery, a mary montgomery and a dorrie mongomery all living in the house with alpeheus and nancy brasfield. they are to young to be her parents but could be siblings. so i apologize for not putting the ? after the nancy (montgomery?) brasfield.

thanks,

Lolita -

I checked the "Brasfield - Brassfield Genealogies" book and it does, in fact, show 2 marriages. However it does not give a last name for "Nancy". When I checked Family Search and IGI, I was unable to find the last name of Montgomery for "Nancy". Where did you find that information?

Mike

Hello Michael, this is lolita. there is a mistake on the page listing alpheus h brasfield. He had two wives and the one you have listed is his second wife. some of the children belong to his first wife and some to his second wife. His first wife was nancy montgomery of crockett, tennessee. his second wife was aley a. of crokett, tenn. this all came from family search and the igi record. he married nancy about 1858 and married aley about 1880. alpheus was born in madison, tenn. thanks, Lolita

7070 Hi Michael,
I know that I wrote you some time ago telling you I had some new info for you, well here it finally is:

Ira B. Allen info from Census records and birth indexes.

Ira Benton Allen son of Nathaniel Orrin Allen and Rebecca Ella Coker (3rd wife).
Nathaniel married Sarah LeBow 1st, then Allena C.2nd, and lastly Rebecca Ella Coker 3rd.

Nathaniel & Sarah Evelyn LeBow had:
Catherine Fanny & Jane Emma (Twins, their first & mid names could be switched/interchanged, I was just guessing.) B: 1869 Ark Sarah E./Aletha B:4 Dec 1870 Ark Annie A. B:1872 Ark Charles "Chas" O. B: 1875 Tex Otto F. B:1877 Tex

Nathaniel and Allena C. had:
Flora M. B:1890 Tex

Nathaniel & Rebecca Ella (Coker) Birdsong (She was married before to Walter Birdsong) had:
Ella josephine B; Nov 1899
Ira Benton B:1902/1903? Ark

Rebecca kids with Walter S. Birdsong were:
Charles B: 1885 Tex
Sarah B: 1887 Tex
Walter B:1891 Tex
Mary B:1894 Tex

I kept going over and over the Census records because the info on Rebecca and Ella wasn't making sense, surely Nathaniel wasn't married 4 times. finally came to the conclusion that Rebecca and Ella are the same person, unless Nathaniel was married to 2 women at the same time.

Rebecca Coker was born in Nov of 1865 in Manchester, Red River Co., Texas and her father's name was Charles M. Coker but am not sure of the mother's name yet.

Nathaniel Orrin Allen is the son of Peter Benton/ Buell Allen & Mary Rowena Hoskins He was born 12 Feb 1844 Cove, Polk Co./ Sevier Co., Ark.
Died 29 sep 1933 and buried in the Pleasant grove Cemetery.

Well there is more detail but I sure you can take it from there.
Time to stop for now.

Thanks,
Valerie Allen

7071 Hi Michael,
I noticed your ancestry listings for my Great-Grandmother Louisa R. (James) Pilcher, I recently located a copy of her death certificate for 1900, in Tipton, Tipton, co., IN.
The death certificate states her Father as Robert James and her Mother to be Rebecca Holman. Hope you will add this information to your postings.
I have listings of their descendants if there is interest in adding them to your data. Thank-you for your efforts!
Best wishes, Robert Pilcher II

7075 Hi Michael, I was doing some looking for information on Rod Brasfield on the internet and came across your sight. Rod is from my hometown of Smithville, MS. Smithville is a tiny town of near 1000, and is located in NE Mississippi about 35 miles southeast of Tupelo, MS. I'm not sure about this, but I believe Rod was buried at Pearce Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. I went to school with a Renee Brasfield, but never knew any of her family. A guy named Monty Brasfield was several years older than me, and from what I was told, Rod and his brother had a double first cousin who ran Brasfield Hardware store until a number of years ago when he passed away. I wish I could find more about Rod on the internet, as he is obviously our most famous citizen of a very small town. The town had a "Rod Brasfield Festival" for a few years, but dropped it. I guess they could not financially make it work. It included lots of singers, and I believe Minnie Pearl even came one year. Amory is very near and have a very large "Railroad Festival" that is in the top ten of tourist attractions nationally each year. Amory is a city of about 7,000, and they pack near 100,000 in for about four days each year in April. From what I heard, it overshadowed the "Rod Brasfield Festival" so greatly that the decision was made to drop it. I know this doesn't help much, but at least it lets you know that someone out in the electronic land has a great appreciation for one of your relatives. Sincerely, Mickey Beam mickeyleann@charter.net 1/23/2002

7076 Hi Michael, Do you know whether your Noel B. Pond, b. abt 1860, might have gone to Otero Co., Colorado? 7078 Hi Michael, While I have the sampler off the wall, I think I will transcribe the back for you. I am no photographer, but I took some pictures of the sampler. I hope they come out. If they are not legible, I will at least transcribe it, but most of it is practicing making the letters. One the back, Marguerite Wallace Kennedy has written: Sampler - done by Elzira M. Brasfield when she was 11 years olf. Born in Madison County, Kentucky, March 28, 1815 Given to daughter - Mary Elizabeth Hocker - Williams Then to her daughter - Louise Marion Williams - Wallace Then to her daughter - Marguerite Wallace - Kennedy Then to her cousin - Nancy Lowrie - Wright in 1971 (great grandaughter of Mary Elizabeth Hocker - Williams) I tried to get some pictures of the back of the sampler also, I don't know how they will turn out. There is some glass on the front of the sampler, every place I put it, I could see myself reflected in the glass. I hope I will have some pictures that don't show my reflection too. I will mail those pictures as soon as I get them developed. Nancy tewright [tewright@cajun.net] 10/17/2001 BRASFIELD, Elzira M. (I13741)

7079 Hi Michael, Can you give me any information on William F. Parker? My ggg grandfather's name was William F. Parker. The information I had said he was married to a Lena? I found your site and saw a William Parker married to a Leney Brasfield. Wilkinson County, Mississippi marriage records Show a William Parker married a Sarah Brasfield on 9-22-1809. They also show Sarah married to a Prestwood Smith on 2-24-1806. Wilkinson County records did not show the marriage to Leney Brasfield. Were both of the sister's married at one time to William F.Parker? I'm not sure this William F. Parker is my ancestor, but my family was from Wilkinson and surrounding counties in Mississippi. If he is my ancestor he would have had a son named Julian F. Parker and I think one named Benjamin. Any help you can give me to prove or disprove his identity would be greatly appreciated. Please ignore the heading of this mail and send any replies to dkimbal@bayou.com as the reply button will send it to a dead address. Thank you so much, Dixie Kimball Dixie Kimball 10/11/2000 PARKER, William F. (I27941)

7080 Hi Michael, Sorry I haven't gotten this to you sooner. Here is the information that I have on Emery Hendrix Farrill. He was born December 10, 1905 in Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. He married Alta Elreno Oxford September 1, 1928. She was born August 30, 1901 in Eufaula, Indian Territory. Emery Hendrix Farrill was the son of Emery Farrill and Emma Hariett Hendrix. Emery Farrill was born May 1, 1876 in Sebastian County, Arkansas and died March 27, 1923 in Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. He is buried at Whitefield Cemetery, Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. Emma Harriett Hendrix was born May 16, 1875 in Rock Branch, San Bois County, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory and died December 16, 1966 in Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. She is buried at Whitefield Cemetery, Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. They were married August 1, 1895 in Whitefield, Indian Territory. Children of Emery and Emma Farrill are Anna Farrill, Zelma Lee Farrill, Emery Hendrix Farrill, Theodosia Daisy Farrill, Herman Walter Farrill, Carruth Neal Farrill, Boyd Bonnell Farrill and Bernice Farrill. I have more information about the children of Emery and Emma Farrill. I just wasn't sure how far you were carrying your family tree and am only listing direct ancestors of Emery Hendrix Farrill. Emery Farrill was the son of Thomas Emery Farrill and Susan Lanzy Williams. Thomas Emery was born September 14, 1849 in Charleston, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi and died February 14, 1927 in Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. He is buried at Whitefield Cemetery, Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. Susan Lanzy Williams (daughter of Jeremiah Williams and Elizabeth ?) was born November 20, 1850 in Mississippi, and died February 14, 1920 in Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. She is buried at Whitefield Cemetery, Whitefield, Haskell County, Oklahoma. Thomas Emery and Susan Lanzy Farrill were married in 1871. (I would assume they were married in Sebastian County, Arkansas but have not found documented proof yet, however, they may have married prior to moving to Arkansas, and would have married in Mississippi.) Children of Thomas Emery and Susan Lanzy Farrill were Morgan William Farrill, Walter Farrill, Emery Farrill, J. Buford Farrill, Beaulah Farrill, Luther Farrill, Grover Cleveland Farrill. (Again, I have information on these children.) Thomas Emery Farrill was the son of W. W. Farrill and Eliza Williams. W.W. was born May 20, 1820 in Tennessee and died September 11, 1895 in Mt. Enterprise, Haskell County, Oklahoma. He is buried in Palestine Cemetery, Mt. Enterprise, Haskell County, Oklahoma. Eliza Williams was born 1820 in Tennessee and died before 1895 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. She is buried at Palestine Cemetery, Mt. Enterprise, Haskell County, Oklahoma. Children of W.W. and Eliza Farrill are Chesterfield Farrill, Martha Emily Farrill, Madora Alice Farrill, Stephen W. Farrill, Wilson Taylor Farrill, Thomas Emery Farrill, Joseph Farrill, Nicholas H. Farrill, Gari Baldi Farrill and Anna L. Farrill. (Again, I have information on these children). Here lies my brick wall!!! along with several other researchers of the Farrill family. It is believed that W.W.'s name is Wilson or Wiltz. It is hard to say! One researchers swears it is Wiltz, and one researcher says it is Wilson. At this time, it still remains a mystery to me as it has not been proven either way. So, I just call him "ole' W.W." I have done some research in Tennessee but have not found information that proves anything as far as parents or place of birth other than Tennessee. Most of this research was found in the book Oklahoma Indian Territory, by Ted Byron Hall. This book has a wealth of information in it on this family and connected families that were settlers in and around Whitefield, Enterprise, area. My sister and I have searched for one of these books to purchase but so far have only found one book on the internet and they wanted close to $300.00 for it. Sorry, not rich!!!!! My husband would kill me if I spent $300.00 for one book. However, it is located in several libraries in that area and you can, of course, make copies of the information you need. I think it would be less than $300.00 to just copy the book! (haha) We have searched in antique shops, book shops, and everywhere else that we can think trying to come up with this book. So, if you find one, for less than $300.00, you better nab it or tell me where it is!!!!! My husband and I live in Virginia, around the Richmond area, and have found wealth of information on other families I am researching. Unfortunately, the Farrills haven't popped up in Virginia yet) There are some Farrills around here and I have done research on Farrill in Virginia but nothing yet. As I said, I do have additional information on most of these families. Some of the information is public record and some is from individuals. I will be happy to share more information with you. Where do you live? Well, need to get some work done around here today so will close for now. As you can see, we are probably cousins, so it is nice to meet you, Cousin. Hope to hear from you soon. 7081 Hi Michael: I descend from Nancy Allen, daughter of Samuel Allen and Mary McAllister. Nancy married Jeptha Terrell in N.C. and had 4 daughters: Ritty Maria; Louisa; Emily and one other. Both Nancy and Jeptha died before they could make the move with their siblings to Weakley Co. So, John Terrell "adopted" his brother Jeptha's girls and brought them to Weakley County with him. Nancy's Allen relatives also made the move at the same time. In Weakley County Ritty Maria married Col. John Almus Gardner 1828, and her sister Emily married John Gardner's brother. Ritty Maria died in 1848. If you want to add these people to your web site, let me know and I will get exact dates for you. At the moment, my family Tree Maker is being difficult to access. Col. John A. Gardner and Ritty Maria are my gr gr grandparents. Grace Hall Upshaw TERRELL, Ritty Maria (I22994)

7082 Hi Mike many thanks for your prompt reply to my email, the news of Henry's marriage gives me another line of research if I can trace his wife's family I might find a new lead.
Henry C. Brassfield snr. was a Butler by profession he married Helana, surname as yet unknown born in the Netherlands in 1850.
They had three children Charles b unknown, Henry C.jnr b1880, both in Walworth London & Charlotte H M b1882 in Marylebone London. Henry probably returned to England at the outbreak of WW1 in 1914 which would explain his return to the USA in 1920, although my late Aunt seemed unaware of any marriage. Will keep you updated on any new info.
I am copying info to Carol we have been working together on this for some years she is a great help to me and will be putting it on her website

7084 Hi Mike, Just a note to let you know I received David Meyers pension papers. According to them he was b. Dec. 18, 1822 Stokes Co., NC. He is listed as widowed and the only child listed is Jessie. No other info of interest. More later. Polly ********************* Hi Michael, My name is Steve Shaffer and I was checking the Rootsweb site this evening and came across your information of David Meyers (Myers) and Permelia. I think we have a connection. I saw your info on David Meyers and Permelia Harmon. You stated that David was born @ 1822 Stokes Co., N.C. and that his parents were ? Meyers and ? Jackson. Well, my 3rd great grandparents were Isaac Mires (Myers) and Sarah Jackson and were married in Stokes Co., N.C. April 16, 1820. My 2nd great grandfather was William M. Myers who was born in Stokes Co. Jan. 11, 1829. I believe that David and William were brothers. I have David Myers born c. 1824 Stokes Co., N.C. & married Primilia ?. David and family can be found in Hamilton Co., Clay Twp., Indiana for the Sept. 1850 census. It reads: David Myers age 26 b. in N.C.; Primilia age 23 born in Ind.; Mary E. age 5; William K. age 3; and Rebecca Ann age 1. All children born in Indiana. Isaac and Sarah Myers are in this same census, except in Washington Township, frame 013, family 171. Isaac Myers age 50 born N.C.; Sarah age 55 born N.C.; Thomas age 18 born in N.C.; John age 16 born in N.C.; and Susannah age 13 born in Indiana. There also may be another brother to David and William by the name of Daniel. He's located in Washington Twp, hamilton Co., Indiana. It reads: Daniel age 24 born N.C.; Priscilla age 22 born in Ind.; Sarah J. age 2 born in Ind.; and John W. age 1 born in N.C. What do you think? Think there is a connection? You are the first I've seen that maybe we could be connected. I haven't found anyone with any connection to a Myers and Jackson from Stokes Co., North Carolina. Hope this helps and hope to hear from you. Take care. McMurtry, Sunday, October 13, 1907, aged 84 years 9 months and 25 days. Remains were shipped to Goldfield for burial. David Charles Myers was born in Stokes County, South [sic] Carolina, on December 18, 1822. When eleven years of age he removed with his parents to Indiana. He was married at the age of twenty-one to Miss Millie Harmon, four children being born to this union. His wife died and later he was remarried the second marriage being blest with three children. His second wife died while they were living in Hardin County, Iowa. Later he again married, his third wife being Mrs. Martha A. Brassfield. Two children were born of this union, one dieing [sic] in infancy the other being, Mrs. McMurtry, of this place. Again death left Mr. Myers without a companion, his third wife proceeding him to the great beyond by twenty years. The deceased had been an invalid, suffering from asthma, for a number of years and the end had been expected for sometime past as he was getting very feeble. Mr. Myers has made his home with his daughter Mrs. McMurtry, for the past few years and has received all the care which loving hands could render. But when his time had come he was ready to go as he realized that He who doeth all things well, was ready to welcome him to his final home. Short funeral services were held at the McMurtry home on Monday afternoon after which the remains were shipped to his old home near Goldfield, Iowa, for interment. Rev. Phillips delivered the funeral sermon at this place and was assisted by many friends in making the last journey of one who had been a man among men as fitting as he could have wished. City, Ok. Her parents were both "Germans from Russia", immigrated from Tscherbakovka, Russia as children, Father Johann Frederich Meier, mother Eula (Julia) Heinze, in 1880. Thought this might be of interest to you . I know I love receiving additional information on my family of Meier. They had a daughter by the name of Charlene Brassfield, born in 1921 in Oklahoma. Anyway, thought I'd pass this info on........Mary Kathryn (Meier) Sargentini - P.S. My Grandfather was younger brother to Johann, her Dad. MEIER, Lena (I4654)

7093 Hi,

My name is Ron Hesdorff, I am a descendant of Alexander Penny and Leontine Brasfield. I am their great great great grandson. I live in San Antonio, Texas. I just wanted to thank you for providing this information to their descendants. You have a wonderful website. Below is a brief family tree showing my relationship to Alexander and Leontine. It might be easier to read if you maximize your screen.

Here's the 1850 census information for Leontine Brasfield-Penny:
US Census, 1850 - All Townships, Kemper Co., MS, HH952, Roll 374, Book 1, Pg. 203b, Image #130. "Mrs. Penny" (age 33, female, born in NC) is found on this census. She is shown only as "Mrs. Penny" with no given name listed. Also found in the household are the following children: John Penny (age 12, male, born in AL), Francis (age 10, born in AL) and Martha (age 8, born in AL). [Note: Alexander Penny is not shown with the family on this census. It is possible that he died between the 1840 census and the 1850 census. Living next door in HH941 is the family of John B. Brasfield, the brother of Leontine Brasfield-Penny, and his family.] [Note: Ron Hesdorff, grt-grt-grt-grandson of Leontine Penny, found this missing piece to our census puzzle on October 8, 2003.]

7096 Hi, I just stumbled across this site in my search for information about my Hawaiian Kanoho heritage. I went to rootsweb.com and typed in kanoho and lo and behold, this Unknown Kanoho came up showing a spouse of Inez Helene Brasfield. My Grandmother! and Grandfather! If it will help you any, MY grandfather's name was Frank (Palikika) Kanoho, he died on Thanksgiving of 1984. My grandmother was born in 1901, and passed away on Thanksgiving of 1990. They had four children: Bill Hampton deceased, Jack Hampton deceased, Johna Kanoho living, LeiAloha Nancy Kanoho living. My mother is LeiAloha. Her name now being LeiAloha Fowler. Let me know if any of this information is at all useful to you. My email at home is Winter_Aires@att.net Heather H. McClane 2/13/2002 BRASSFIELD, Inez Helene (I14925)

7097 Hi, I was looking at your Brasfield genealogy on WORLDconnect. I believe this information is correct: Beatrice Svien (1898-1963) was married to ROBERT Brasfield. Beatrice's parents were Johannes (AKA John; headstone reads "Jonnas") Martin Svien and Gertrude Larsdatter Soine. As far as Johannes Martin Svien's parents, I have something very different! But I do recognize the names you recorded for his parents: ID: I13556 * Name: Andres J. SVIEN * Sex: M * Birth: ABT. 1839 in Norway * Immigration: ABT. 1857 Norway * Reference Number: 13556 Marriage 1 Valger UNKNOWN b: ABT. 1843 in Norway Children 1. Johnas W. SVIEN b: ABT. 1856 in Wisconsin Andrew (AKA Anders) Johanneson Svien was born in 1837. His wife was Velgjer Tostensdatter Nystuen, born 1842 in Vang, Valdres, Norway. (She was quite notorious, since she lived to 110 years old! Every year beyond 100, there was an article written about her and her longevity!) I am related to both of these individuals, as well as Beatrice Soine Svien. There is a John A. Svien buried near Andrew and Velgjer, who died in a train accident in 1903. Do you recall where you received the parent information on Johnas Svien? I would appreciate knowing. Perhaps I've made a mistake in my database.... I do have 9 "Johannes Sviens" in my genealogy file, and another 10 "Johan Sviens", as well! Unfortunately, the Sviens, Ellingboes, Soines and Kasas in Norway and later, Goodhue County, MN, all seemed to marry each other, which gets VERY confusing!! Thanks! 7098 Hi, I came across your site while doing research on my husband's mom's family name.James' middle name is Washington. He and Hester B. Hayes had two girls,Lillian, and Hilda(my husband's mom).I would be happy to compare notes with you. Thank you, Nina 5/5/2001 nfranze@jps.ne Mike, I don't mind sharing the info I have on the Kelloggs, and the Brassfields. You probably have more info on the Brassfields than I do.I do have a copy of James' certificate of death, and delayed Certificate of birth.I didn't know until I got these copies, that his mom's name is Loutesha,I thought it was Lou Tishe. What do you have for the spelling? How far back do you have on James?I have back to James, about 1820,married to Lida (?).It sometimes gets confusing because there are SO many James'. What info do you have on the Brassfields, that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thank you, Nina nfranze@jps.net KELLOGG, James William Jr. (I43582)
