| 7588 | Irene S. Brassfield Terzo, of St. Petersburg FL, passed away on April 18, 2010. She was born in Cherokee, IA. Her family moved to Lake City, IA where she graduated from Lake City High School. Irene attended the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA. Upon graduating she went to Bellevue Hospital in New York City where she met and married Dr. Charles Terzo and they moved to Danbury, CT. Irene attended Western Connecticut State College earning her B.S degree. She went on to earn her Masters of Education degree from Columbia University, specializing in mental health and psychiatric nursing. She was appointed to the Nursing Education Faculty of Pace College, Pleasantville, NY and was elected Chairperson of the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Irene was an active member in the CT Nurses Assoc., The National League for Nursing, The American Nurses Assoc. and American Assoc of University Professors. In 1975 Irene accomplished her high school dream of completing her private pilot's license and owning her own Piper Cherokee airplane. Flying was a lifelong love for her. In 1978 she became Director of Nursing at New Mexico State University in Carlsbad, NM. After contemplating retirement she accepted a position at Las Vegas Medical Center in Las Vegas, NM as a Mental Clinical Specialist. She retired in 1989 filling her retirement with her favorite things: traveling, cross-stitching, painting and ceramics. Irene is survived by her former husband, Dr. Charles Terzo; two children, Elissa Terzo Zerrenner of St. Pete Beach, FL and Guido C. Terzo of Henderson, NV; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Joyce Christensen of Coon Rapids, IA and Karen Yaden of Clackamas, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Thelma Brassfield; one brother, Elvis Brassfield; and a sister, Betty Benckendorf. Interment was held in the family burial plot with her parents and sister, Betty, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, WA. | 7594 | It has been reported that on the back of the death certificate of Joseph Brassfield Glenn there is a note written that he was shot on 27 Aug 1903. The other brother, Alexander Velria Glenn, was said to be involved in the gun fight. Alexander died 13 May 1904, which is on his tombstone. It is reported that the two brothers killed their uncle (their mother's brother), Nathaniel M. Stockton, during the gunfight. - Article from The Journal of Monroe County History, in which the writer states this happened in the early 1900s. My great-grandfather, Nathaniel M. "Bud" Stockton, son of Robert Nelson Stockton and Mary Jane Baldwin was born Jul 1863. He married Zoe Webb 3 Jan 1884* in Monroe Co. He was in the 1900 Monroe County census and Zoe was listed as a widow in the 1910 census. The story goes that he and his cousins rode their horses to a political rally in Amory. They were drinking and one cousin shot Bud who was taken to Memphis (MS or TN?) and there he died. Charges were not made against any of the cousins. When did this happen? | 7597 | It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you of the death of Maurice Duane Wilson (July 1, 1927 - March 24, 2005.) He was the husband of Jearldene Hattie Brassfield. He was recovering nicely from a 5 vein bypass surgery and died quietly in his sleep at home. Maurice was a strong Christian and we know he was with the Lord. He was a survivor. He had polio as a child and was not expected to walk--he did. He had one of the first partial lung removal operations in 1947 when he had Valley Fever. After 18 months in the hospital, he went home. | 7599 | J.B. Webb, 62, of 5004 Powell Drive, died Wednesday at his residence. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with J.B. Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. | 7600 | JA Brassfield, an 86-year-old lifelong Trenton area resident, died at 8:47 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City. He had recently resided at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Monday, Feb. 14, 2011) at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Bro. Duane Campbell officiated. Jim Ingraham was the pianist. The Honey Creek Minuteman Group sang “When We All Get to Heaven.” The congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and special music included “God Bless the USA” and “Peace in the Valley.” Pallbearers were Jay Cooksey, Clay Brassfield, Casey Brassfield, Dan Knapp, Philip Grisamore, Kenneth Brown, Avery Cooksey and Carson Cooksey. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Shuler, Bob Holloway, Eric Hoover, Leon Spencer, Lewis Lynch, Jake Diercks, Eldon Cooksey, Gary Speck, Tracy Morrison, Aaron Huffstutter, Brent Wyant, Jerry Roberts, Larry Bunnell and Gary Bunnell. Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton, following military graveside rites by the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 of Trenton. Those participating were Lannie Harkins, Bart Shaw, John Rice, Jeb Walker, Paul Ellis, Bob Haggy, Jerry Trump and Charles Davidson. Mr. Brassfield was born on June 23, 1924, the son of Alva and Lillie Fisher Brassfield north of Dunlap. He attended the rural Herbert School and graduated from Trenton High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was married to Sue Reed on Nov. 25, 1948 at Honey Creek Chapel Church. They began farming east of Trenton, starting a grade A dairy in 1953. In the early 1960’s, Mr. Brassfield started a career with Farm Bureau Insurance, which continued until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Brassfield joined Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church in May 1940 and was an active member his entire life, including serving as board president and elder. He was also a member of Mid-America Dairymen, Joseph L. Norton VFW Post 919 and was active in the school and church activities of his family, including the Pleasant Center 4-H Club. Mr. Brassfield is survived by his wife, Sue Brassfield of Trenton; three children, Jane Ann Cooksey and her husband, Mike of Trenton, Thomas Reed Brassfield and his wife, Marla of Overland Park, KS and Nancy Jean Brown and her husband, Roger of Lilburn, GA; nine grandchildren, Michelle Turitto, Jay Michael Cooksey, Jada Cooksey, Amy Knapp, Clay Brassfield, Casey Brassfield, Abby Knapp, Jennifer Fobart and Julia Webb; five great-grandchildren, Avery and Carson Cooksey, Beckham and Hudson Fobart and Elijah Webb; special friends, Tracy Morrison and Marti Curtis; two sisters, Marjorie Grisamore of Galt and Marianna Eaves of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwight Brassfield; a sister, Frances Brown; and an infant brother, Robert. Memorials are suggested to the North 65 Senior Center.
