| 8772 | Mike, I have a little info on this family unfornately, I do not know what girl married a Brassfield, George and Henrietta had 6 children 2 girls and 4 boys. Nellie married Garnett Lowe. So maybe that leaves the other daughter Maudie and she was born 1894. and of course I looked for Jesse Brassfield his wife was Maude E. They were living in Kirksville, Adair Co., Missouri. So I am assuming this is her. Here goes with what info I have. Maude's sibling were Freddie, Ola, Charlie b.July 1890, Clyde b. nov. 1898. Her Parents George b. May 1870 d. Dec. 20, 1926. Henrietta Pope b. 05/19/1872 in Schuyler Co., Mo. d. 12/01/1945 in Kirksville, Adair Co., Missouri. Her parents were William Brady Pope b. abt. 1849 in Indiana. June 19, 1871 in Scotland Co., Missouri He married Charlotte Elston b. abt. 1856 in Illinois. I believer her father to be Andrew Elston or one of his sons kids, I have no proof of him being her Father. Henrietta had two brothers and three sisters. Daniel (no info), Catherine (I have info somewhere), Mamie married a ? Fergie, They were in Quincy, Illinois I contacted the grandson and he gave me the number to his daughter, I called and left messages and no returned calls. Last but not least is Andrew Pope (my line). he was born 02/07/1874 and died 07/22/1941. in Kirksville, Missouri He is buried in Bear Creek Cemetery. He married Edna Bell Schupp/Shoop b. 12/04/1881 in Novinger , Adair Co., Mo. and died 06/05/1947 in Hurdland, Mo. they had five children Jenny m. Clyde Potter, Beddie ? Earl, Pansy (mine Line married John Stewart)., Stella Beatrice m. an Anscomb and a Claybrook and Alfred married Velma Stewart. Andrew was married once before I forgot to a ? McFarland they had one child Ella Lucille She married a Smith and also a Clifton. So. , I am assuming I have finally found a cousin. My father didn't know a whole lot about his side of the family this is how I got started he wanted to know. We moved from Missouri when I was younger and moved back and forth several times and landed back in Quincy, Illinois. I now live in Golden, Illinois. I went to school with a Mike and Peggy and a Pam. Peggy was my sister's age. So where do you live and do you have any info on this family? I can go back further on the Pope side if u don't have the info. Well I hope this helped please let me know if this sounds right or is not correct. Thank you for responding to my E-mail. Possible cousins,] Debbie Carnes | ANDERS, Maude E. (I15096)

| 8773 | Mike, I have decided that you should be afforded additional information so that you can draw your own conclusions about my information at hand. The information I sent you is in the bible, but is typewritten and affords much more information than is handwritten. Since it consists of 4 pages and includes more recent data, I have concluded that Kirby did research and put together the information along with that written in our bible. I am now going to start to give you only what is handwritten in our bible. On one page at the front is written Sollie W. Brasfield, Solomon W. Brasfield, Book, Jan 24th 1874. Another page which is the publication page has Willie Brasfield written with the Holy Bible between the two names. I think that Willie wrote that and it identified the bible as his possession. On the marriages page there are two columns listing the following. I am not going to change any spellings seen. First column George Brasfeild + Betsey Major was married August 23rd Day A. D. 1787 Willie Brasfeild son of the Afford + Emmaline Shaw married February the 22nd Day 1822 A.D. George Simpson Brasfield and Martha D. Kennedy was married September the 20 day of 1848 Married on the 22nd of Nov. 1870 Kate D. Brasfield to James H. Norvell S. W. Brasfield son of G. S. and M. D. Brasfield was married to Cordie L. Cox Aug. 15 A. D. 1871 Second column: Married on the day of Augst 1882 Emma S. Brasfield to Geo. P. Holman Married on the day of 1884 Sam G. Brasfield to Bashbie Wright Dr. Albert Brasfield and Gussie F. Dabney was married Dec 20th 1893 Dr. Albert Brasfield and Maggie Norell Brasfield was married Oct 17th 1917 Landrum Brasfield and Maggie Norrell Brasfield was married Mch 16th 1910 Please note these possible dissimilarites from the handwritten and the typewritten pages in my possessions. Betsey Major not Elizabeth Majors I do not understand the significance where under Willie Brasfeild is written son of the Afford. The rd in Afford may be something else. It is written with the letters very difficult to read in a fancy script. Cordie L. Cox not Cordelia Louise Cox Kate D. Brasfield not Demetria Kate The information on Dr. Albert Brasfield and his two marriages supports the information that Albert married his son Landrum's wife as suggested on the typewritten list I previously sent you, but the bible does not mention that information. I do not know where it came from. Please note once again that there is no Wylie Brasfield written anywhere, only Willie I will relay further information as I find time. I hope this information reported in the manner I have it will shed some new light on your research. Regards, Lyle | BRASFIELD, Solomon Wylie (I22619)

| 8775 | Mike, It was with the greatest pleasure that I found the name of Parker B. Brasfield and Faustina ? on the Ancestry.com website and they switched me to you. Though not a direct descendant of the Brasfield line; I can tell you that the two sons of Parker Benton Brasfield and Faustina Verlett McBroom married in Rosedale Mississippi and Parker, Sr. Having died en route to Arizona from tuberculosis and buried in San Angelo, Texas, are the two finest men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. They were my half uncles, you see and I was living with Parker, Jr. and next door to Charles Harold Brasfield when Parker died of a heart attack and was home from basic training just a year later when, (1968) Charles died from a heart attack also. The two boys had a truly tough life and if you would like to know more, I can provide almost all you want to know. Neither man had offspring, I guess I was the closest thing Parker, Jr. had for a son and Charles never had any children either. Parker, Jr. married Ann Lay and had a long and happy, loving marriage. He took care of his mother and half-sisters and brother's to the very end. A finer man I have never met. I would like to correspond more if you don't mind; you see I am searching for my biological father and his family. Please email me back as this is some of the most wonderful news I've had in years. Sincerely yours, Richard (Rick Millar) email: millar@mtaonline.net home phone 907-376-8033 cell:907-351-0719 9/19/2003 ******************************* Michael, I have communicated with you previously regarding the wife of Parker Brasfield Sr., Faustina Verlett McBroom (my grandmother) I noticed that the children of Parker and Faustina are not listed or listed as name withheld, I have the information and if it IS "name withheld" I was wondering why.Anyway thei names are as follows: 1. Parker Benton Brasfield, Jr. Born 1918 died oct, 1967 (I can get better dates for you if you want, I'm on the North Slope of Alaska right at the Moent) 2. Charles Harold Brasfield Born approx. 1920 died approx Oct, 1969 Neither men had offspring so that line effectively stopped there. I was living with Parker and his wife, Anne Lay Brasfield and next door to Charles, his brother when Parker died of a heart attack. I was 18 years old and both of these men were very special to me. I hope this helps and I CAN get the rest of the information if you wanjt it including the census info on Parker Sr.'s family. Also, there is another branch of the Brassfield family that had no knowledge of you folks untils last December. They are from Oklahoma, but Greg Brassfield is living in the Dalls area and is a Temple ordinance worker at the Dalls, Texas Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I hope this is useful in finding more family members. I am: Richard Millar of Wasilla, Alaska my preferred email is rhmillar@gci.net. I am truly looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Rick Millar He died of abcess of right lung following an operation for appendicitis and was buried in Fairmount Cemetery. He was a carpenter. "J.M. | 8776 | Mike, Just going through some notes I have from Kieth Buck, concerning the Heron or Herron or Herring family. Actually, this is on James Brassfield, father of George Robert Riley Brassfield, my Ggrandmother's dad. *James Brassfield witnessed deed from James Griffith to John Brassfield of land on North side of Powell's River, Sept. 19, 1811 * 'James Brassfield made an affidavit, Feb. 23, 1816, Claiborne Co. TN. to the effect that he appointed George Petrey to be his attorney to collect from the Paymaster of the United States the wages due him for a "tower of duty" of 3 months and 26 days commencing Jan 17, 1814, as Private in Capt. Davis' company, East Tenn. Militia' * 'James Brassfield, of Claiborne Co., bought of Thomas Lay, of Cambell Co., 50 acres of land on South side of Powells River in Campbell Co., TN. Dennis M.T. Brassfield, John Brassfield, and Thomas Brassfield attested, April 3, 1822 [Deed Bk. G, p. 260, Campbell Co. TN.] * 'Bounty Land Warrant No. 80749 for 160 acres was issued June 4, 1858, to Arman Brassfield, widow of James Brassfield, Pvt., Capt. Davis' Company, Tenn. Militia, War of 1812, By George C. Whiting, Com. Warrant was sold by her to Nicholas Gann, of Pottawatomie Co. Kansas, Jan. 28, 1859. * Pension Records at the National Archives, Washington DC show: Arman Brassfield testified that James Brassfield, her husband, went with Command taken by General Jackson into the Creek Nation where he served during the winter and spring of 1814. * Affidavit of Riley Brassfield that he is a nephew of James Brassfield, deceased husband of Arman Brassfield. Dated March 23, 1873, Livingston Co., MO * Statements made by James Brassfield and Susannah Frisbie, of Livingston Co., MO, who say that they are children of James and Arman, that Sussanah was born while her father was in the service. * ---In 1875, before a Justice of the Peace, Grundy Co. Court, appeared Mary Brassfield, aged 75 years, a resident of Grundy Co., MO who states that she is a sister to Arman Brassfield, Widow of James. She says that she and her sister were married the same day, same place, by the same Justice of the Peace, Silas Williams, Feb. 9, 1811, Claiborne Co., Tenn. and that she married Thomas Brassfield, a brother to James Brassfield. It is interesting to me that Mary was only 11 years old and Arman was only 13 years old when they married. But apparently was not uncommon in those days in Kentucky and Tennessee. Also, Riley Brassfield claims to have been a nephew of James and Arman, and therefore a cousin to my GGgrandfather George Robert Riley Brassfield. But don't know who his parents were. [Riley Brassfield was the grandfather of Charlie Irwin, the subject of the book: "Prairie" Hope this helps. Joe Spence 3/25/2001 spencefly@oregontrail.net ************************** His Rank: Private His Unit: Moses Davis Pension Number: WC-5017 Additional Info: James Brassfield married Arman Heron (Herring) 09-1811, Claiborne Co., TN. Davis' Company East Tennessee Militia. James Brassfield died 03 September 1839, in Campbell Co., TN. Arman Brassfield received Bounty lands. Arman Brassfield was listed as head of household on 1840 Census, Campbell County, TN, but she moved from Campbell County, TN to Livingston Co., MO by 1850. | BRASSFIELD, James (I3066)

| 8777 | Mike, in the census, she is listed as Ida Vera. They named her Ida Vera Ann. When she left home see when by Vera Ann. | 8780 | Mike: Here are the basics of what I know about Ada's family: Her parents were Daniel Joseph Finnigan (born April 30, 1866 in San Francisco, died February 12, 1926 in Los Angeles) and Lillian M. Guerin (born December 11, 1870 in San Francisco, died January 03, 1899 in Los Angeles). Daniel and Lillian were both full-blooded Irish. Daniel was a plasterer by trade and for many years owned Pacific Plaster Company in Los Angeles. Lillian died when Ada and siblings were small children. Until Daniel remarried a few years later he was not able to care for them since he had to work during the day and had no family nearby to watch them. As a result he had to put them in Catholic orphanages during that period. The boys went into St. Catherine's Orphan Asylum, in Anaheim, California, while the girls went into St. Catherine's Orphan Asylum in San Bernardino, California. They show up there on the 1900 census. I understand that Lillian is buried in a Catholic cemetery in Belvedere Gardens, near Los Angeles. The other children apart from Ada were my great-grandmother Florence Mae (born March 03, 1891, died November 20, 1986), Edward, and John (who went by his middle name of Arthur). Unfortunately I know nothing about Lillian's parents other than that they were Irish and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daniel's parents were Edward Finnigan and Catherine, last name unknown, apparently both born in Ireland. Daniel, parents, and Daniel's siblings show up on the 1880 census in San Francisco. (Edward's name is spelled simply Edw. on the census, and Catherine's name is given as Catharine.) Edward also shows up in a boarding house (occupation plasterer) on the 1900 census in San Francisco. My grandmother and I have looked high and low trying to take the Finnigans or Guerins back beyond that, but so far with no luck. If you have any additional information -- or come across any in the future -- we would be grateful if you could share it. I hope this was of some interest to you. I am copying my grandmother Virginia on this message. Feel free to write to either of us if you have any questions. Best regards, George | FINNIGAN, Ada Margaret (I44915)

| 8781 | Mike; I just made contact with a cousin in Australia. I was working on his side of my family when I discovered your website. This is what I have . . . Seilig [or Selig] Wiley CASTLE & Ida Lou CHEDESTER [or CHEDISTER] had 8 children: Roy Emmett, William, Alford, Rena Mary, Earl Walter, Eva Amanda, & Laurah Odell. Laura was born 7 Apr 1900 [of] Winter Creek, Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. her mother died after the census taken Jun 1900. She was raised by Frederick JONES & Louisa Eleanor BUCKINGHAM, in Pottawattamie Co, Iowa. In the 1910 census of Oakland, Pottawattamie, Iowa she is listed with the family as Della CASSLE, 10, a "grand child". Although the CASTLE & JONES families lived in the same area, and some inter-married, I can't find a blood connection between Laura & Fred JONES, and she apparently never used the name JONES. The family moved to Sutter County, CA about 1912. On 12 Jun 1918, in Sacramento CA, Laura married Hugh Alvin MORRISON, Sr. of Yuba County. He was born 25 Jan 1889, d 26 Apr 1955.. They had two children, Maxine, b 16 May 1919; and Hugh Alvin MORRISON, Jr, b 14 Jan 1923. Laurah d 29 Dec 1979, in Yuba Co, CA Charles I. Davis | CASTLE, Laura Odell (I45577)
