He was a doctor and delivered over 3500 babies at the local hospital Roy (that's me) born 1921. Retired medical Administraor. Harold Adrian born 1923. Died March 6, 1944. Was tail gunner on a B-17 which was shot down over Holland while returning from a mission to Berlin. This was his 25th mission. Helen Joyce Richards born 1928. Retired Hospital Medical Records director. Lives in Bakersfield, Ca. I have one son and two daughters. I have 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was also half Cherokee, but they lived on Chickasaw Lane on the reservation because that's the only place where there was room. There was at one time the leader of the Cherokee nation who refused to live on the reservation called Chief Bowles. He was half Scottish. Red headed Cherokee. They were given most of East Texas where my family settled until the Republic of Texas army after Sam Houston was ousted betrayed and slaughtered them. After that, the survivors hid until it passed over then came back years later and just said they were white. It's a long story and I'm rambling but suffice it to say, yes there is a Cherokee connection. I can't believe I don't know the Paul in Palestine. | 9235 | My Grandmother was Frances Gage Brasfield, known to my grandfather Ben Dozier simply as Gage. I've been pretty involved with the genealogy for my paternal line (Brockman). I am going to try to reach out to the matrilineal line now and get some of those cousins together on a myfamily.com site. It seems that they are all from Arkansas for quite a few generations, Clarks, Brasfields, Doziers. I remember my grandfather's Arkansas accent. It was Cajun, sometimes he sounded a bit like the cartoon character Yosemite Sam though of course that accent is exaggerated. Frances's father was Caleb Mcallister Brasfield, his father was George Boswell Brasfield, his father was William Noffleet Brasfield, then it goes Caleb Brasfield, then 4 George Brasfield(s) in a row if the GEDCOM file from my mother is right then a Thomas Brasfield, and I can only imagine that you must know the tree from that point. The matrilineal line from my mother have several generations with the middle name Gage, often as an LG or Lizzie Gage or Elizabeth Gage. I am wondering why the name Gage was so conserved. There were some notable historical figures named Gage. There is Caroline Gage the abolitionist/feminist and I believe there was a Colonel Gage on the wrong side of the Revolution fighting for the brits. Then there are the Viscount Gages in the UK. | 9237 | My name is David M. Raper and I found your site tonight, as I am researching the Phillips line from McNairy and Hardin Counties in Tennessee. You show, as do several other researchers, that Elizabeth Purdy, born 1798 in Kentucky per the 1850 McNairy Co., TN census, was the wife of Nicholas Phillips. I believe that she probably was but I believe she was his second wife. She could not have been the mother of John Andrew Phillips as he was born in 1806. She would have been only 8 years old at his birth. She could have been the mother of the rest of Nicholas's supposed children but would be pushing it for several of the older boys. Notice the skip in years form 1820 to 1828 where no children are born. It could be that the children born from 1820 and earlier were from a different mother. I just wanted to bring this to your attention because it is worth looking at. Regards, David M. Tate, daughter of the late Thomas and Nelly Kimple Ricketts, and was preceded in death by one son, Elick E. Tate; one sister, Nannie Ricketts; and two brothers, Roy Ricketts and Willis Ricketts. She is survived by five daughters, Betty L. Tate, Goldie M. Stewart, Dolly I. Sinor, and Lorean K. Brasfield, all of Clarksville, and Ruby J. Fowler of Ozark; four sons, Joe Lee Tate Jr. of Clarksville, Loyd A. Tate and Paul E. Tate, both of Ozone, and Guy L. Tate of Lamar; one sister, Flora Pincomb of Vernon, Mich.; 32 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Ozone Full Gospel Church with Rev. Charles R. Boone officiating. Burial will be in Case Cemetery at Fallsville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Guy L.
