9754 On the marriage certificate she signed K.L. Hancock she is also found as Kate, K.L., Katherine Lucy and Katherine Lucille Hancock. All to be the same person. Austin (TX) American Statesman - February 19, 1879

Mr. David Browder, of Lee county, died of punomonia at Mrs.Robert's boarding house Monday night afte an illness of but four or five days. He was summoned here as a witness in the Federal Court and brough on the sickness that cost him his life by sleeping in a draft between two open windows. The wife and a brother and two or three citizens were with deceased during his last hours. The Masons followed the remains to the grave yesterday afternoon.

Th poor woman who was brought hither from Lee county with four little children and her husband is left in utter destitution by the husband's death. He was a witness in some whisky case, was taken sick and the wife came to watch at his bedside. He died yesterday morning and was buried in the afternoon by the Masons. If there be good Samaritans in Austin they will seve the poor, grief-stricken helpless widow.

It is said that the reason Shuler and Melda were not in the picture was she was having a baby. That is what Alpha told me,but I can`t find dates to jive with that figure.

The fifth generation picture is unique in that it was first borns of each generation. getting this group together was due to the insistence of Delores Meadors, the wife of Willis.Picture was taken,May 15 1981.Here in Bakersfield. They met at our home and went to Sears Roebuck,to have the picture made. Dad Shuler would "turn 88 years old on May 19.

The third picture is of Dad Shuler and Melda. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Love to all,Uncle Pierce and Aunt Kaye
